Shells & Art

Newcastle Art Gallery Foundation warmly invites you to an afternoon for the senses in an exclusive prelude to the New Annual Festival.

Join Art Gallery Director, Lauretta Morton OAM and special guest, Indigenous artist Megan Cope to celebrate the Foundation’s recent acquisition of Megan Cope’s Kinyingarra Guwinyanba (Off Country) 2022 for the new Gallery’s central atrium.

Held in the relaxed ambiance of Thermidor Oyster Bar & Brasserie, you will hear the inspiration behind Megan’s installations while dining on sublime local delicacies.

Your luncheon will be followed by your opportunity to join Ngumpi Kinyingarra Oyster House at Honeysuckle Marina for Megan’s daily ‘Scrub Club’ where you can scrub oysters for use in a future installation.

Continue the festivities by joining the Friday Night Sounds with Kobie Dee located in the Honeysuckle Marina from 6pm.
