Libby Rodgers-McPhee is a professional fundraiser with international accreditation, Libby has made significant contributions to philanthropy in the Hunter Region through her work with Hunter Medical Research Institute, The University of Newcastle Foundation (where she was Acting CEO), Samaritans Foundation, the Newcastle Maritime Centre and the Heart Foundation. In these capacities, she has achieved outstanding results based on her skills in communication, networking and strategic planning, underpinned by a commitment to community benefit.
With post-graduate qualifications in art from study in both Sydney and Newcastle, Libby taught for then years in Hunter high schools before moving into the philanthropic sector. She was the first employee of Hunter Medical Research (now HMRI) and in that capacity was instrumental in building the organisation’s fundraising infrastructure from the ground up. She led the branding, marketing, collateral development, and fundraising strategies, notably “Top 100” (corporate supporters) and flagship events such as the FIA Award-winning HMRI Ball and Gala Awards Dinner. She also established the HMRI Foundation, recruited Patrons and key members to the Board, and activated a new community volunteer cohort.
Libby has strong networking skills and her reach extends to artists, philanthropists, community supporters, educators, researchers, and government representatives at all levels.
She received the HMRI Award for Exceptional Service in 2016, became a Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA) in 2009, and became a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE International) in 2010.
