Foundation members, donors and special guests recently gathered at historic Longworth House, the home and studio of artists James Drinkwater and Lottie Consalvo, for a special lunch celebrating and supporting the expansion of Newcastle Art Gallery.

Guests enjoyed a studio viewing followed by a three-course luncheon featuring Symphonia Wines and accompanied by renowned pianist Terrance Koo.

James spoke emotionally about the importance of Newcastle Art Gallery to him as a young boy growing up in Newcastle.

“When I was 8, we stopped going to church. There was a loss however the serendipity of finding the gallery meant this became our church. I don’t like the term ‘deserve’ but this town really deserves this Gallery.”

The Foundation sincerely thanks James and Lottie for their generous and warm hospitality, and all attendees for their ongoing support as we work together to achieve the final $900,000 of our $13million philanthropic goal to realise this exciting project for Newcastle and the Hunter region.
