Newcastle Art Gallery Foundation

“There is a treasure trove of work that is being stored in the vaults of the gallery and it will be a fantastic day when all of those artworks come out into the light. It will be a gift to the nation we can all share.”

Making the expansion happen

The expansion of the Gallery is a $35.6 million investment in the social, cultural and economic life of Newcastle and the Hunter.

It is made possible through the support of Newcastle Art Gallery Foundation, the City of Newcastle, the NSW Government and the Commonwealth Government.

The Foundation’s commitment of $10.5 million has been achieved through the goodwill and philanthropic efforts of our community, a founding bequest by the late Valerie and John Ryan and a significant donation from the Margaret Olley Art Trust. We are enormously grateful to all who have been involved so far.

But there is a little way to go. The Foundation is calling on our community of supporters to help raise the final $2.5 million for the Gallery expansion. Every donation makes a difference, and we invite you to be part of this once in a generation opportunity.
