Shells & Art

Oct 2, 2024

Our Shells & Art event held on 27th September, was a wonderful gathering of art lovers and Foundation supporters.

Thermidor Oyster Bar & Brasserie provided the perfect location to celebrate the launch of New Annual and the Foundation’s recent purchase of Kinyingarra Guwinyanba (Off Country) for the new Gallery.

Our guests enjoyed a scrumptious banquet luncheon while hearing an in conversation with Art Gallery Director Lauretta Morton, OAM and Quandamooka artist Megan Cope on her inspiration behind the Foundation’s gift to the new Gallery, Kinyingarra Guwinyanba (Off Country).

Following lunch, guests joined the Ngumpi Kinyingarra Oyster House at Honeysuckle Marina, where they scrubbed shells for use in a future artwork of Megan’s.

Thank you to Foundation members and guests who purchased raffle tickets for the stunning Broome pearl earring and pendant set kindly donated by Broome based jewellers, Galwey Pearls. https://www.galweypearls.com.au/

The raffle raised $1200 for the Newcastle Art Gallery expansion project and was won by Foundation member Carol Ryan.
